Carpenter Park
Landscape Architect: Hargreaves Jones
Carpenter Park is one of the four priority parks proposed in the 2013 Dallas Downtown Parks and Open Space Master Plan at 5.6 acres. The City of Dallas Public Works Department initiated plans to realign and remove roadways around and through existing Carpenter Plaza, expanding its size and creating the opportunity to reimagine the space.
The site includes an existing site-specific installation by the artist Robert Irwin who worked closely with Hargreaves Associates to reposition and adapt the sculpture within the new park design.
The new park will include environmental play for children, gardens, a plaza with an interactive water feature and a significant under freeway area that will be activated with a food truck plaza, pavilion with restrooms/office/storage/beverage service, public basketball court, dog play area, and dramatic nighttime lighting.
The park will serve a rapidly expanding downtown population and emerging East Dallas cultural district.
